Ladies and Gents what a pleasure to be singing again with you all: 7 sopranos, 6 altos, 3 tenors and 4 basses! Tonight we worked hard on the Gaelic Blessing in the first half and the sound we made was fantastic, each part grew in confidence as the evening went on. In the second half of the rehearsal we sang our way through all the hymns and the National Anthem. Ralph Harding says he will be getting MP3s out in the next week for you to use in your own practice, so look out for these on the website
. The choir practice on Saturday the 26 October is cancelled as Merel wants you to work on the pieces on your own: we need to look at not only the music but also the words as they dictate the dynamics and allow us to give the music and words meaning and feeling. It was decided that for the Southwark service the ladies would wear black top and bottom, skirt or trousers, if skirt is worn then black tights please, no scarf. Gents will wear black shirt, red tie and black trousers and black shoes:;all singers will be asked to wear a red poppy on the left. Our next rehearsal is on Tuesday 29 October then Saturday 2 November and finally 5 November for an hour. Lastly on Wednesday 6 November we will be singing alongside the Cathedral choir and we are just as good as they are, as I heard tonight. Bob
